The interesting thing to note is that even though Dean didn't win the popular vote in either Iowa or New Hampshire, he is still actually winning the primaries.

Like the general elections, the primaries have 2 systems to decide the winner. First is the popular vote, which is what you're hearing about in the news as a loss for Dean, but there are the delegates that act like the Electoral College. On top of that, there are some unassigned delegates who basically pick their favorite candidate, and will public announce this. The total number of delegate behind each candidate is what actually decides the outcome of the vote.

Dean has 113 delegates on his side.
Kerry has 94 so far.

But yet, with the way the media and politics works, unless Dean wins a primary very soon, he will be forced out of the race (despite how many delegates he has).
